Airport

San Antonio International Airport is approximately 8 miles (about 15 minutes) from downtown and the River Walk. The airport is serviced by 14 air carriers: Aerolitoral, American Airlines, America West, Continental, Continental Express, Delta and Delta Connection carriers (ASA, Comair and Skywest), Mexicana, Midwest, Northwest, Southwest, and United.

Transportation from the Airport

  • Taxi: $19-$20, plus tip, to downtown (up to 4 people may share a cab)
  • Shared-ride shuttles: $14 one-way to downtown, $24 for round-trip (SATRANS)
  • City bus: $1.00 to downtown (1 hour scenic tour)

By Train or Bus

Passenger Rail - Amtrak

Bus Service - Greyhound

Local Public Transportation

SATRANS

SATRANS Airport Shuttle Service between the airport and downtown hotels is $12 each way with purchase of round trip, or $14 one way. Services are also available to other area destinations. ADA accessible mini-buses are available.

VIA Streetcar

Downtown travel is a breeze on the VIA Streetcar, an open air, authentic reproduction of a rail streetcar which traveled the streets of San Antonio more than 50 years ago. There are four streetcar routes to downtown locations, including the Alamo and more, with convenient access to all routes from the streetcar station on Convention Plaza. Cars run every ten minutes and fares are $.80 for one adult. Route details and hours can be found here.

VIA Bus

Numerous bus lines run throughout downtown San Antonio. You can also travel to many city attractions using VIA bus route 7 Funston Place, a new route that makes stops at several destinations that represent the rich tapestry of culture and history that make San Antonio unique among American cities. Taxi Service

Metered taxi service is available and is $1.60/mile from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and $2.60/mile from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. with no extra charge for additional passengers. The average cost from the airport to downtown is $19 - $20, plus tip. Large minivans are also available and can transport up to seven passengers downtown for an average of $15 per trip. Rates are subject to change.
